Montérégie sans fil is rapidly gaining ground in Saint-Hyacinthe

Five (5) new hotspots have  been installed in the Saint-Hyacinthe region in January.  This is a sure sign that the service we are offering is as beneficial for the providers as it is for the users.

 The 5 new hotspots installed in January 2010  are:

• Bibliothèque T.-A.-St-Germain
  2720, rue Dessaulles,  Saint-Hyacinthe
• Bibliothèque Sainte-Rosalie
  13 955, avenue Morissette, Saint-Hyacinthe
• Parc Les Salines
  5330, rue Martineau, Saint-Hyacinthe 
• Restaurant L’Espiègle
  1834, rue Des Cascades, Saint-Hyacinthe
• Bureau du Tourisme et des Congrès de Saint-Hyacinthe
  2090, rue Cherrier, Saint-Hyacinthe

With these 5 new hotspots, the Saint-Hyacinthe region now has a total of 9 hotspots. The other 4 hotspots are:

• Restaurant Pépé
  2085, rue Girouard O., Saint-Hyacinthe
• Le Bilboquet

The year 2010 looks promising for Montérégie sans fil as additional hotspots are planned for the coming weeks.  Furthermore, in an upcoming announcement, we will advise you of a project we have been working on for some time.  To follow….

Free wireless internet access at Champion Lanes

It’s official, the Champion Lanes bowling located at 2999 Taschereau boulevard in Greenfield Park (450-671-5577) now offers free wireless internet access on its premises.  The service is provided in cooperation with the non-profit organization Montérégie sans fil.

Did you know that Champion Lanes which opened in 1959 now has 77 bowling alleys and is the largest bowling in Canada?  Today, it has also become one of the few to offer free internet access to its customers.  If you have a portable PC or any other device which supports WIFI technology,  you will be able to surf the WEB or read your emails on the Champion Lanes premises or at any other Montérégie sans fil hotspot.

French article on Quebec city’s 200th hotspot

Le groupe ZAP Québec, voué à la diffusion de l’accès gratuit à Internet dans la ville de Québec, a annoncé le déploiement de son 200e point d’accès dans la région avec la participation du Centre des congrès de Québec.

L’Internet gratuit sera maintenant disponible sur la promenade Desjardins, face au Centre des congrès sur le boulevard René-Lévesque.Il s’agit d’une étape majeure dans le déploiement accéléré de ZAP Québec. «La participation d’un acteur aussi important dans la région de Québec au projet de faire de Québec une ville sans fil est un événement majeur», affirme Carl-Frédéric De Celles, directeur des communications de ZAP Québec.

Une antenne a été installée sur le Centre des congrès de Québec. Le système sera accessible sous peu et offert gratuitement à tous les visiteurs.

La ville s’associe 

Par ailleurs, après avoir collaboré à l’aménagement de points d’accès au réseau ZAP Québec dans de nombreuses installations municipales au cours des trois dernières années, la Ville de Québec s’associe officiellement au projet.

Selon le maire de Québec, Régis Labeaume, la Ville entend «fournir une collaboration soutenue afin que Québec devienne LA référence en matière de ville sans fil».
